Training

The Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Department strives to protect and serve the community of Peardale-Chicago Park to the highest level of training so we can be better prepared for emergency calls to help reduce the risk of injury or loss to the community we serve and help our firefighters return home safely to the ones they love.

Every year nearly 100 deaths and over 100,000 injuries occur to firefighters and emergency medical service personnel on emergency calls. It’s an alarming reality that they and their loved ones live with daily. It’s also why we at Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Department take our training and education to serve our community seriously.

We have a well established Continuing Education Program for our firefighters who are already established Emergency Medical Responders and Emergency Medical Technicians. In addition to responding to hundreds of emergency calls, our dedicated volunteers train every Wednesday night. In total, our personnel train an average of 200 hours a year.

The Peardale-Chicago Park Fire Department personnel have received training for River and Flood Water Rescue Awareness and several of the firefighters are Swift Water Rescue Technicians. One firefighter has received his Hazardous Materials Specialist certification. We have several American Heart Association CPR instructors.

It’s our commitment to the community of Peardale-Chicago Park.
